Where are you from?

I’m Victor I was born here

But yeah my parents are from China

Your parents are from China but you were born and raised in As\ustralia

Are you not working today?

I’m working Just on a lunch break

Thank you for giving me time

What do you do as a career?

I’m an architect

So you make plans for like buildings and stuff like that?

So today in this video I wanna ask you some questions about welfare of employees

From my experience if living in this country and also conversations I’ve had with all the people from different countries

I think that welfare of workers differs in each country

So I wanna ask you about it What it is like in Australia

First of all, I researched on Google What most likely we have in Japan

And what people demand from companies in Japan

So I’m gonna mention the top five of them

And please let me know if you can say the same thing in Australia

So the first one is gonna be

Rent allowance

So when I used to work in Japan

I used to pay two hundred dollars for a decent apartment

And the rest of them goes to the company

Do you have something like this?

No, I don’t think

So you mean like they supplement your

They pay for the rent

No

You’ve never heard of it?

No, never heard of it

I think generally they try to pay you enough That you can

Pay your own with the salary

The second one is commuting allowance

Do you have it?

No, I don’t have it

Never heard of it?

Never heard of it yeah

Some people I guess they’ll give you petrol allowance

Not as an architect but yeah

Coz when I used to work in a real estate in Tokyo

It was like four hundred yen or something to go to my workplace

Which is like four dollar

And everytime my company paid for it

The third one is bonus

Many Japanese companies pay you bonus every half year

Wow! That’s very lucky

Like one point five times your monthly salary or it could be like two or three times

Depending on what industry you are they do

I mean in architecture maybe it’s a bit more rera

But I think maybe if you work in like law or real estate maybe

Kind of like commission sort of thing

The fourth one they hold medical check up for you

You need to do a medical check up sometimes right? To make sure that you are healthy

And company does that for you Company pays you to do it

Again not for the industry I’m in

I guess every year they sometimes pay for flu shot

That’s about it I guess

But maybe I’m just unlucky in my industry

Last one is gonna be parental level

So when you get a kid until they get a year old or something

You get paid not hundred percent probably

Fifty percent of your salary or something

Do you have something like that?

Yeah we have parental leave as well

It’s now also for men and women

So instead of women take the leave

Many man do that too?

They both can take it

What kind of welfare do you have from your company?

Do you have any unique ones?

I guess first of all we work by the beaches so

We can go surfing, swimming, running at lunch time

That’s really good

We work with great bosses

They also like to surf and to swim

So everyone’s really relaxed and laid back so

You’re not stressed when you are working

It’s great work environment

I mean if you can say I work in a great environment with confidence

I think that’s really good

Coz I couldn’t say that when I used to work

Last question is gonna be like this

One thing I really hate about working in Japan was like

The difficulty to take annual leaves

You wanna go to holiday Maybe you wanna go to Europe

But three days four days are not enough

So you wanna say hey boss I have four weeks of annual leave

Can I take three to four weeks off and go to Europe?

Maybe like three four months later

And your boss’s gonna look at you like

Are you crazy?

Who’s gonna take care of your position or whatever

Do you have some culture like this? Can you use annual leave?

Again I’m very lucky to work in a great environment

If you need to take leave they are very open to it and

We cover each other all the time so

There is a culture of

You should take leave and take break

We’ll cover you No worries!

No worries! That’s Australia

It should be like that

Thank you for giving me time in your important linch time

Where are you from?

We are from Argentina

Do you guys live in Australia now?

Yes, we live in Australia

Have you ever worked in Argentina?

Yes

What do you do?

I’m a deaf teacher

You work in education

I’m a nutritionist

I work in a pharmaceutical company

So she will know more about this

I wanna ask you some questions about benefits of employees

Welfare of employees is very different in each country

So I wanna know what it is like in Argentina

But before I made a plan of this video I researched on Google

What most of Japanese companies offer to employees

And also what Japaneses people demand from companies in Japan

So I’m gonna talk about top five of them

And please let me know We have that in Argentina or like

No, Argentina companies don’t do it

Rent allowance

It’s not that common

If you work for an international company and maybe if you go to Argentina to work maybe the company pays you

International companies

International companies yeah

How about this?

Commuting allowance

That’s common for big companies

And also there is another option like car allowance

It’s like a benefit to get a car and then you get paid for example for the toll

And for the parking that kind if things

How about bonus?

Not all the companies in Japan but some companies pay you bonus

Every six month you get like one time pay

Thank you for being in our company

Do you have that?

We have that

Maybe more like every December

The end of the financial year

Depending on your performance Some companies give you bonus

For example if a beer company sold a lot of beer in the year

They pay the marketing area

So the last thing is parental leave

When you get a kid maybe you can get a year off or something

And your company pays you maybe not hundred percent but fifty percent of your salary

To help you take care of your kid

Do you have that?

But it’s shorter

In Argentina you get paid for three months

And you can take another three months but you are not paid for that

And for the guys

It’s more unfair because they just have like a week

So this is for women

Sounds like still men work and get money for the family and women take care of the family

Something like that?

When you used to work in Argentina

What sort of welfare of employee did you have?

Is there any unique Argentina welfare?

For a company that I worked for there were like for example once a week You could have your hands nail

Something like that for women

They pay for you

Yeah they paid for us once a week

And then another one was massage or stretching

If you sit on a chair for like eight hours

There was a woman who came once a week to do like stretching or something like that

That’s very unique

In the school that I worked for

One year one bonus and it was like oh my god

We can’t believe it because

We work in education you know The payment in education is like

Not so decent yeah?

No

So the last question is gonna be like this

One thing I really didn’t like about working in Japan was

The difficulty to take annual leave

Technically you have them

But for example if I said that to my boss

I wanna go to Argentine for holiday

Can I have like three weeks off, four weeks off?

Your boss is gonna look at you Are you serious?

Do you have this culture?

Same but less than Japan

I have Japanese friends

And they told me that the culture of working is like…

Yeah in Argentina we do and we have only two weeks of annual leave

But it’s very hard to get them all in once like

If you wanna go for one month

Your boss will tell you Are you sure?

Even you have the right?

Yes, of course

That’s similar to Japan

That’s interesting I didn’t expect that

Thank you very much

Where are you from?

We are from France

Today is Tuesday afternoon now Are you not working today?

I worked this morning and I just finished now

What do you do?

I’m a removals

What did you guys used to do back in France?

I was a banker

Were you?

I can’t expect you being a banker with that hairstyle

No one can

I just finished my study I was studying digital marketing

In this video I’m gonna ask you some questions about welfare of employee

I think the benefit that you can get from companies

Differs in every country

I googled what we have in Japan

And what people demand from companies in Japan

So I’m gonna talk the top five of them

Please let me know We have this kind of thing in France or like No, we don’t do this

The first one is gonna be rent allowance

Only if you work in a big company

How about bank?

Not at a bank

Only if you got like a big post with a lot of responsibility and stuff

A director or something

High position

Interesting

How about commuting allowance?

So you take a transport to your workplace

Do they pay for it?

They wouldn’t pay for it

It depends on what you do

At the bank for example they pay for my transport

They pay for your petrol or stuff like this

If you have to move for work

It sounds like if you work in a good company maybe you have an opportunity for them to pay you

How about bonus?

In Japan many companies pay bonus to you every six months

I’d say we’ve got thirteen months at a year

So in December instead of getting one month You get paid for two months

It depends on the company but some companies do that

会社によるけどそうしてる会社もあるよI

At the bank I had thirteen months

And as well every six months I had bonus

Medical check up from company

You need to check sometimes your body right? To make sure that you are healthy

You don’t have to do that by yourself but if you work in a company

Usually your company organize everything for you

Do you have that kind of workplace culture?

I’ve never heard anything that looks like it

I don’t think it’s such a thing from companies in France

Because we’ve got pretty good healthcare in France

And everything is already free in France pretty much

Everything is free in France

So you can do like body check up for free?

We have a very good healthcare in France to be honest

You get injury and go to hospital for free

That’t the good thing about France

You must be very happy about it

If you have something like that I think people are happy to pay tax

It’s a part of tax yeah

Parental leave

When you get a kid The time is longer for women

But even for dads it exist

We can take four weeks for dads and then dads have to come back to work

Women I’m not sure but take three four months

More than couple of months

Last question is gonna be like this, one thing

I didn’t really like about working in Japan

We technically on paperwork have annual leave

But if you ask Hey boss, I wanna go to Europe

Could you give me like two or three weeks off?

You r boss is gonna look at you like

Are you serious mate?

If you go for a holiday for two three weeks Who’s gonna take care of your position?

You are not responsible

So you are supposed to have four weeks But it’s not looking good to take them?

No, lots of my friends take like Two days off, three days off

Five days off sometimes but

In the end maybe they use two weeks or a week

Anyone takes their day off

It’s your legal right to get five weeks off

So if you say wanna go to Australia for four weeks

You can say Give me four weeks off, can you?

As I said it’s a part of the contract so

If you just ket them know a month before

You put your holidays

And then just have to organize themselves

No one complains?

Not one complains coz it’s our right

It sounds like a really good contry to work

Some people devide not to take the days off to get paid more but like

Most people take them and

There is not company that doesn’t allow you to take them

That’s why you have a big smile on your face yeah?

They try to keep us positive

Thank you very much! That was good to know

Merci beaucoup!
