Oki doki Thank you very much for your help guys

Where are you from?

From India

From India

Are you guys a married couple?

Married couples

Ok, beautiful couple from India

It’s a random question but what do you do as a career?

I’m a HR, Human resources

I’m an IT, Information technology

HR means that you send workers through many places

Is that correct?

Ok, sounds like a good job aye

In this video, I’m interviewing people

Here on Bondi Beach about a change of a job

My first question is gonna be

At what age did you start working?

Around Twenty four

After uni?

After uni

For me, it’s around Twenty three

So you went to university as well?

Yeah, I do and I did my master here

First I did a master, and then I started a job here

Started a job in Australia

So the main question of this video is gonna be like this

Have you ever changed your job

Or here you ever thought of changing jobs?

Yeah for sure, because if there’s no learning or there’s no good environment

Obviously we change jobs for me it’s like learning

So you changed your job?

Yes

One time or two?

Two times

And for me, I’m regularly changing my job like after two to three years

Because we want to meet new people and new things

If you do the same job again and again

Your life will be like a robot, I don’t bring the same job

Rather than so I like challenges and meeting new people

I regularly change my job of two to three years

Sounds cool

Even you stay in the same field but you change the workplace to get better

Better version of you

For sure

But in Japan some people change their job because they’re not happy about salary

Some people change their job because my they’re not feeling comfortable at their workplace

Many reasons, many factors can be the reasons for people to change their jobs

But you know, apparently there are many people in Japan who kind of like are worried of changing their job

Because what of you can’t find another workplace

Or they afraid of telling their boss about they’re quitting their job

And also about their parents too telling thier parents to quit the job they kind of like scared to tell them

Why you’re not worried about that sort of stuff?

No no

Even like you, for example, if you have good skills

You are best in your place, obviously you know we get scared of changing the job

Ok, you’re confident

I’m confident enough that I’ll be getting the job

Obviously it’ll take time

I’m not thinking it will be degree on spot obviously, it will take time

So for me, it’s around it gonna take one and two months

After that you will be like you are at your own place

Because once you’re at new place then

You need to learn all about culture

And I know man how they work together kind if thing

So initially one or two months, it’s gonna be tough

But it’s gonna be also challenging so that’s what like and after that

It’s gonna be like the same as the last job

So many people are afraid if it’s gonna be good or not by changing their job

But you enjoy the toughness

Yes yes

That’s what we need to do delighting 50s

So what’s my target still 50s we regularly need search in our job

After 50s I don’t think that we need to change our job

At one place and just till your retirement just settle there

Ok but untill then?

Keep changing so that you might get a salary increment that’s the best part of it

And after Co**d, things have changed you know?

So people for example, some companies are giving flexible working culture

Some companies are giving hybrid options

Some companies are giving completely work from home insurance

So yeah! The market is open

You have so many options

Did you have any like notice that you have to give when you quit your last workplace

Like four weeks notice or?

Yes, four weeks maximum I notice

So as long as you give four weeks notice, you can happy quit the job

Ok, that’s good

Coz lots of my viewers I get sometimes DM that saying

I’m going to Australia for working holiday or

Study abroad next year because I can’t quit my workplace for like another year or something…

Another year!?

Are you in a prison or something else?

Oh my god, it’s like maximum it here should be four weeks because

You have transition and that in Australia it’s very good

For example, if you work one to two years you have two weeks of notice

And if you work like more than five years then it’s four weeks

Oh really?

She’s HR so

Professional right here!

Ok, so my last question is gonna be like this

Generally, what’s your thoughts on a change of job?

Cause now it has changed but

I think some time ago in Japan, changing jobs was not really a positive thing

So what do you think about this? Is that positive or negative?

I think it’s very positive

Definitely positive

Because right now I’m also thinking to change my job

Even same here

I’m not getting the learning I’m doing the dream job

Even like not about only about salaries or about your learning, about the challenges you face and

About the work culture it impacts

The job that I am right now I’m doing I’m with them from last three years

So now I’m just thinking to change it I’m just waiting for the best time

It’s about the time?

I like your message “Be happy to be challenged”

Yes for sure

Ok, thank you very much

I hope you find another good workplace

2組目 香港出身の女性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

I’m from Hong Kong

And what are you doing here on Bondi Beach today?

I just went surfing

Oh, you surf?

I don’t no it’s my first time

Are you learning surf?

I just learn so it was really hard

I used to work for a boss he was from Hong Kong

But he’s got like Cantonese accent and

You English is amazing! What’s happening?

I’m originally from Canada actually I’m from Hong Kong lived in Canada for a long time

And then now I live in Hong Kong

Oh, that’s why! That’s the magic you speak like that

This is very random question but what do you do for work?

I am a consultant in a conglomerate

So you work in a company?

Very large company

This is you’re gonna be the perfect person for this video

In this video

I’m interviewing non-Japanese people

Here on Bondi Beach about their thoughts on a change of a job

FIrst of all

At what age did you start working in a company?

Twenty-three

That’s when you finish university?

And I have masters

Oh, you did a master in Canada?

Yes

Have you ever changed your job or

Have you ever thoughts of changing a job?

Yeah, I’ve changed my job

How many times did you change your job?

Three times

Quite a lot yeah?

It’s OK so kind of average number

Maybe I’m a too Japanese I say quite a lot I’m still Japanese

Some people want to change their job because maybe they’re not happy about their salary

Some people want to change your job because they are not feeling comfortable at their workplace

Many factors can be a reason for people to change their job

But apparently in Japan there are many people who think like that but they can’t really change their job

One reason they are afraid if they can’t find another workplace

Second of all, they are really simply afraid of telling their boss that they’re quitting their job

It’s awkward, right? Always

And also their parents too

Maybe their parents want them to stay in a company

Were you not afraid when you change your job?

And why did you change your job?

I think that of course there’s when you change your job you always be a little bit scared

But then it’s always cause you want a bit more so either you want a new challenge you want to learn something new

And you feel like you’ve been doing the same thing for a bit too long

For me that’s why I changed jobs

So even you’re feeling happy at your workplace

You wanna be a better place in many kind of stage

So that’s why you change your job

In my country Japan I think it’s like a common sense that

You should be working at least for three years in a company

And then maybe you can change your job or something

Do you have that sort of like a mentality in a Hong Kong?

Of course have you change your job too much it’s not good

But it’s quite common in Hong Kong year or two years

It’s not uncommon to see people change jobs all the time

And then people think like you

Like they want to be at the better place?

I think some people it’s more for the money, the salary

Of course it’s easier because the economy is quite busy in Hong Kong

So then, there’s just a lot of change and people will always be asked to go to another job with higher salary

So a lot of it’s the money

How about your parents, though?

Because I don’t wanna generalize, but we are like from an Asian country

Asian parents are very realistic sometimes

Your parents are supportive for you to change your job or they or?

My parents were completely supportive

Oh really, That’s good

And also in my country Japan

I get like DM quit often and they say that

They want to come to Australia, but they’re maybe it’s gonna be like next year

Because my boss want to me to stay here another year or I can’t quit my job for one more year or something like that

Do you have any notice that you have to give when you quit the job in Hong Kong?

I think it’s by contract so every contract is different

So sometimes it’s two months or three months

Depends on the company?

Yeah it depends on company

So my last question it’s gonna be like this

What’s your thoughts on a change of a job? Is that positive thing or a negative thing, do you think?

I think a change is always positive

If someone makes a decision to do it that means

They had all the information

All of the thinking to make them do that

So I think it’s great

So in our generation, maybe in Hong Kong

Not many people just stay in one company for a whole life

Very not in our generation

Ok, change your job is positive thing in Hong Kong

Thank you very much for your opinion I loved that

3組目 シドニー出身の2人組に聞いてみた!

Where are you ladies from?

Sydney

Sydney rigth here

Born and raised in Australia

Beautiful country

This is very random what do you do for a career?

I’m a teacher’s aide, si I work in a primary school

Oh!? Teacher!

I’m not a teacher I’m studying but not a teacher

What about you?

So I work at a hospital so I’m a nurse

And you guys are having a day off today or?

No after work

Come to Bondi beach!

Such a good life Australian people’s life

I’m jealous

In this video, I interview people here on Bondi Beach

About their thoughts on life changing jobs

First of all

At what age did you start working as a full time?

I think I was Nineteen

So after what it is, high school?

You don’t say high school?

High school yeah

And you started working as a …

A beauty therapist

Ok, how about you?

I think maybe around Nineteen or Twenty

I went through a lof of jobs up until my full time as a nurse

I used to work in like hospitality

It’s just like a disability support worker

And I just heaps of different jobs

All right, so does it mean that you started working

And then you quit the job and you went to uni or something?

No, I was working during uni

Oh, you’re working during uni

Have you ladies ever changer your job

Or have you ever thought of changing job?

Yeah, I’ve changed jobs in career probably three to four times

Can I say that some many times?

A lot yeah

Ok, why did you change your job?

I just got bored

So you stayed in the same field or you did a completely different style?

Very different

So I started in beauty therapy and now I’m in

Like primary education

What about you?

Humm not really

I mean, I’ve stayed I’ve been a nurse for about three or four years

I’ve leaved like positions within different sort of fields in nursing

I think before I started being a nurse I was going through so many jobs

Just because I wanted more experience, more exposure

And just a good work life balance

And then you are happy about your job now

And then you probably stay there

Oh I mean, nursing in Australia, especially New South Wales

It’s not that great to be honest

It’s just because like you know we’re really short staffed

Especially like in government as well it’s just crazy

We work like a lot of crazy hours for over time

We are really burnt out so

Yeah, i thought about it so many times

You thought about it? Yeah

All right

So there are some people who change their job

Because maybe they simply not happy about their workplace like you said are too busy or whatever

And also, they want more salary that’s why they change their job

But apparently in Japan, there are many people that they thought about it they are feeling about it they’re feeling so but they can’t change their job

Because they’re simply afraid of next job if they can find another job or not

And also like telling boss that they quit, it’s awkward, right?

Were you not like worried about that sort of stuff when you quit your job?

A little

I feel like most of my bosses I’ve been really supportive of it

Though I think like they try to keep me to stay

But I just have my mind set in it, I guess so then I change

And they very supportive and been very lucky

Good working environment

Don’t you guys have that like a mentality

That you have to work in a company for at least three years

Because we have that sort of thing

Three years stay there and then you can change your job that sort of thing

Do you have it or?

Probably not me personally

I think it depends what you do

If you’re in sales sometimes it’s only so much that you can so to do and then so hopping like

Going to different companies can actually be a good thing

But I do get like where they come from I just think like for me

If I ever want to change career or change a position

I always make sure that I do have a job first

And then keep looking and then if I do

I’ll just tell my employer that like

You know, sorry, I got another job

Like four weeks in advance or something

My last question in the main question of this interview is gonna be like this

Simply, what’s your thoughts on change of job? Is that positive thing or negative thing?

100% positive

Love challenging

I love learning more, meeting new people

You improve yourself changing jobs

Yes 100%

I reckon changes jobs you get to be out of your comfort zone

You learn more things, you meet new people

It’s never it’s not always a bad thing very good

There’s nothing bad about changing job

Thank you very much solid answer I loved that

Thank you very much enjoy your day!

4組目 オーストラリア出身の2人組に聞いてみた!

Thank you very much for your help

Where are you from?

I’m from here Australia in Bellevue Hill

Yeah, I’m from Australia too

Would you mind my asking

If you are still working or if you’re retired?

I’m retired now

I’m retired as well

What did you used to do?

I used to be in the printing industry

You are working or?

I had own business in the printing industry

You had your own company

And what about you Ma’am?

I was a preschool school teacher

I ran a center for 20 years

And I’ve worked for two different organizations

All right, so you worked in a two companies?

You gonna be the perfect person to interview this question

Because in this video I’m asking people here on Bondi Beach

About their thoughts on a change of a job

First of all, at what age did you start working or?

Did you start your business?

I was about Twenty two something like that

From scratch or you from your parents or?

No I did an apprenticeship in a company

After the apprenticeship, I started my own business

Why didn’t you choose to work in a company?

I wanted just to get further in life, and I felt like

I have to make the customers find the customers

And I did that’s how I started

As you know honestly, most of people just start working in a company

Instead of like building their own company for

So I was like, all of your thoughts behind that?

At what age did you start working as a preschool teacher?

Twenty one

And you said you changed the company, right?

So what’s the reason that you changed your workplace?

New employees over my previous place of work

And I just moved with him

Because you know, some people change their occupation

Maybe they’re not happy about their workplace salary or they are not feeling comfortable about their workplace

But apparently there are many people in Japan

That people cannot really change their jobs and even they feel like that

Because they are afraid of if they can get another workplace

Another job, or they simply afraid of telling their boss about quitting their jobs

Or like even with their parents as well

When you think about quitting your job, were you not like worried about that sort of stuff?

No, not at all

Because I was doing the same sort of job I previously had done

And just carried on with new employers

And it’s just a matter of working out their system and adapting to what’s going on

In this country, if you know what is a notice that you have to give when you quit workplace?

I think it’s one month, four weeks

I think that’s the average

Because a lot of viewers send me a message sometimes

And they say that oh, I wanna go to Australia As well like you do

But maybe it’s gonna be a next year

Because my company keep me another year or something… So I was like…

It depends of your contract is for a year

And a lot of people here change jobs for promotion

Because they can get another offer, a better offer

Ok, it’s like a headhunting sort of thing?

Yes, sometimes people are headhunted

Because of their talent and so they move to other company

So my main question and the last question if this video is gonna be like this

What’s your thoughts on a change of a job?

Because now that things has changed a lot in Japan

But I think it was like this changing a job it was not really positive

It’s more like negative

Why you cannot stay in one place

Why you change so many times?

What do you think about this?

I think it’s a generational thing

My father had a job all the time

Just basically one or two jobs in his whole lifetime

And today’s generation seem to move every six months

If the boss is lucky

Because it takes a lot of money to train somebody

And then they would like to see some results from that training

So that’s why the bosses don’t really like

From your perspective you think so

What’s your thoughts on the changing job?

Is that a positive thing or a negative thing?

If you’re changing jobs for promotion or for benefit to you, then it’s worthwhile

Maybe you will increase your salary

So it’s gonna be benefit to you in order to do this

When you change your job, you’ve gotta make sure that it’s gonna be beneficial to you

yes other wise there is no point

Year other wise there is no reason

Sorry one more question

In my country Japan

It’s like a common sense that you have to work

At least three years in a company

And then you can change job

Do you have that sort of like mindset in this country do you think?

Not this generation I don’t think so, No

No more?

Because a lot of companies can go best

And people have to move

But mostly they want promotion

So there’s always something better around the corner

So people are looking for the better opportunities always

Thank you very much for your help

That’s alright

I’d like to answer that last question too though

Yes I actually would recommend

I mean, we’ve got children as well children and grandchildren

But I would recommend to my sons

To actually stay in a job for at least three years

Absolutely

Why do you think so?

Because it gives permanency you learn the trade, you learn the profession

And with that experience

You’re able to find a much better job later on to build up on it

So I would recommend to have a solid base

And then build up from that

Ok , that is so true

Because if you move on like all the time

Every year, you’re really learning shallow things

But you don’t really deeper things

In your profession that you really need to learn in all aspects

And as you move around, there are lots of gaps that come in that area

And it’s very hard to make that up

That is 100% for sure

Thank you very much for your help
