1組目 ウーロンゴン出身の女性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

From Wollongong

What are you up to today in Sydney?

I’m actually up here for a TilTok event

Are you an influencer or a content creator?

Yes

What sort of things do yoy do on TikTok?

I do a lot of real life, fashion, that sort of stuff

Really? That’s cool!

Sorry I just randomly stopped you

COz I really needed to stop you

Today I’M making a video about tattoo

And people’s history with tattoo

You have a lot of tattoos right?

How many tattoos do you have?

I have lost counted at this point

I have tattoos as well underneath this

And I’ve got my first one which is on here

It’s like a moon sort of thing

I got it when I was twenty years old or something like that

I was just… How do I say?

We call it “Chunibyo”

Do you know “Chunibyo”

“Chuunibyou” means that basically are a cocky young kid

You wanna show off something that people don’t have

That’s why I got it not much reason

When did you get the first one?

SIxteen

Which was

It’s like up here one of these

Yeah there is it

Did you do that by yourself?

No, I actually went to so years ago

You actually could get a tattoo with permission from a parents or a responsible adult so

Even you are under age?

Yes

That’s why the laws have changed now

Because like it wasn’t that case

So now you gotta be like what? Enighteen?

Yeah

You’ve got heaps now yeah?

I don’t know how people see tattoos in this country but

Were your parents okay about your tattoo when you were sixteen?

So they didn’t know till I was eighteen

You hid it?

I got my first big tattoo when I was eighteen it was this one and

When I got this one my dad was like “Okay, no more tattoos now”

And I was like “Yeah yeay yeay”

And then I went back and I got this and I got my arms and I got my hands

And I got everything and yeah so

My dad actually gave me a book when I was younger that says

“No tattoos before thirty”

I very much got every tattoo before thirty so

And your parents must have got used to it?

My dad actually has his own tattoo now so

He understands it he got

He’s got a tattoo for my stepmom and my sister and so

He got that and he understood like that tattoos sometimes have meaning and

Like what they can mean for somebody and

How like rewarding tattoos can be so

So another question is gonna be like this

I don’t know if you know about this or not but

In my country Japan still if you have tattoos

Looks pretty negative for a majority of people

I don’t say everything person will judge you but

I think most of them will judge you

Just because you have tattoos

Especially like a person who has visible tattoos

Like your arms, legs and chest

What do you think about this in this country?

Do people have a stigma to people who have tattoos?

I think it’s definitely come a long way

I know when I first was getting like a lot of my large visible tattoos

Some of the responses were little negative

But then you’d also have like the older generation who would be like

Tattoos you have like it’s really beautiful it’s really cool it’s really that’s really awesome

But then you’d get other people who are like they still have that mentality of like years ago when

Tattoos around here meant that you are a part of like a bikie gang or something like that so

It’s definitely come a long way I mean

If you go out in Queensland and if you go to like clubs and stuff in Queensland or like the casino in Queensland

You actually have to cover up like your hands and your neck tattoos

Even now?

Yes, even now

So there is still a strong stigma to it

In Japan also you’ll find it difficult to find a job

If you have that sort of tattoos

How about this in this country?

So before I got my hand tattoos, it was a lot easier

Coz I used to be in sales and I was very good at selling

I could sell ice to an Eskimo

I actually got an offer to job with a car company that was like

Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes all that sort od stuff

And they were like year fantastic we wanna hire you

They’ve seen my hand tattoos and they were like

We can’t have you with us

This is something that I actually didn’t expect

Because in this country I thought everyone’s gonna kinda accept tattoos but

Actually it depends

It really dees depend you get some people who are like very welcoming and

Very friendly and stuff like that and very understanding tattoos I mean that’s to stay in age

And then you still have some people who are very much in that mindset of

I’m actually going to Japan next year in May for mu birthday

Which I’m super excited for I’ve always wanted to go but

One of my friend who’s been to Japan before mention that

So he has a dragon tattoo on his arm

And he was saying how certain things like dragon tattoos or tattoos in general stop you from being able to go into places like bathhouses and stuff like that

So there’s definitely that worry behind it of like

How am I going to be received over there but

That is actually true

I think nowadays some bathhouses started letting foreigners come in

Because we have to also accept other cultures

We also want them to listen to our cultures as well

But we need to balance right? So

Some of them are taking it easy nowadays taking it easier than before but

What do you think guys?

It’s a difficult thing

But I hope no one’s gonna judge you

Because we have a different culture

And I hope you’ll enjoy everything in Japan

I’m so looking forward to it I can’t wait

So the last question is gonna be like this

There are many laser clinics out there

People want to get rid of tattoos

Obviously some of them regret some of them don’t like what they have

Have you ever honestly regretted having tattoos?

There is some I have regretted

And there is some that I think

How would I have not being such an ego teenager and just gone out and done it

That I would have planed it little better

Back then I was very sporadic

I feel the same aye

And I don’t always think that tattoos need to have a meaning

But I certainly think that they need to some kind of planning behind it

Coz it’s something on your body forever

So I’ve never gotten laser myself

I’m very much on the stand point of I’ve got them like it’s a part of the way I’m now kinda thing

Great opportunity to interview you

Thank you very much

Enjoy the time in Japan

2組目 ブラジル出身の2人組に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

Brazil

You guys are a couple?

Yes

Tudo bem?

Is it “How are you”?

Yes

I used to live with Brazilians

I really needed to talk to you coz your

Boyfriend got a really cool tattoo on his arm

And today’s I’m making a video about tattoo and

People’s history with their tattoo

How many tattoos do you have?

Five or six

Just my arms and that’s it

And one here

On your shoulder

Do you have a tattoo?

Just small one there

When did you get the first one?

How old were you?

Eighteen

I don’t know how people see tattoos in Brazil but

Were you parents okay about it?

Yeah my parents have them as well

Mine as well

More then me

So tattoos are very common in Brazil?

Very common

Even my grandfather has it as well

So it’s not a really like a gangsta sort of?

No, of course not

I have quite many tattoos underneath this shirt and

I’ve got it when I was like twenty I think

I was just a naughty kid

I just wanted to get it

In my country Japan people still have a stigma to it

People judge you if you have a tattoo

Because long time ago tattoos are for sort of bad people

You might find it difficult for you to find jobs and stuff like that

How about in Brazil? You have tattoos obviously here

Dose it affect your job hunting?

I’ve never had a problem with it

Can you work in a bank or an insurance company?

Yes, we can

Just if you have one on face or something

How about neck

Sometimes but if it’s a small one here, you don’t

So tattoos are really accepted in Brazil

So the last question is gonna be like this

Some people regret having a tattoo

And they remove it

They pay a lot of money they get a lot of pain and they remove it

I don’t regret personally but

Have you ever regretted your tattoo?

That one I don’t like much

Coz I did it with my friend and

At the moment we don’t speak to each other

But I don’t hate it like I don’t want to erase it something like this I don’t want to delete this one

Well, it’s your memory

It is

I’ve never

Thank you very much! That was interesting

Muito obligado

3組目 アデレード出身の男性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

Adelaide Australia

And you are in Sydney for a holiday or something?

Yeah just five days with my girlfriend for a holiday

I just really needed to talk to you

Coz I saw your tattoos there

Today I’m making a video about tattoos

How many tattoos do you have?

I have about twenty four hours worthful tattoos

So there’s about sixteen hours on my arm

About ten I probably have a bit more I probably got about thirty hours of tattoos actually

So yeah I’ve got my chest

And I’ve got one on my hip

Why did you get the first one?

The first one was my parents names

最初はここに両親の名前を入れたんだよ

And I got that because I really wanted a tattoos

And I was thinking my parents wouldn’t kill me too much if it’s like this

If you got yout parents name?

They still did

They were not happy about it?

Not happy at all

And then I got my religious one

Jesus, Mother Mary my family saying on my shoulder

How were your parents about that?

Still not happy but they thought at least

At least it’s not skulls or something like that

So they were happy about that

So your tattoos have meaning yeah?

They way I see if I get a tattoo and not regret it

That’s all that mattes to me

If it’s done well I know I won’t regret it

You don’ wanna get a naughty one like skulls or something for no reason

I kind of do like them too

If they look good, they look good as well

So in my country Japan it is still quite negative

To have tattoos for most of people

I don’t think every single person is gonna judge you but

I think quite many people will judge you just because you have tattoos

Especially if you have them somewhere visible like your arm

You’ll probably find it difficult to find a job it depend on the job but

To pass the interview it’s gonna be tricky

Do you have that kind of stigma to people

In this country about tattoos?

Not so much with my kind of work

I do notice sometimes you get looked at a bit different

People do judge before they get to know you

Now a lot of people have tattoos so it’s not that big a deal but yeah

If I gotta go for an interview I always cover it up

With a shirt?

And then it’s gonna be no problem?

No problem coz otherwise

If I had a long sleeve coz it stops here you’ll never see it

So let’s say if you wanna work in a bank as long as you have a long sleeve shirt

Yeah, they’ll never know

And then when I get the job, then I take it off

It’s too late by then already

So the last question is gonna be like this

Have you ever regretted your getting tattoos?

I actually love them

Because you got something that’s meaning ful

That’s good to know

Thank you very much yeah

4組目 ベトナム出身の2人組に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

We are from Vietnam

What are you guys up to today?

This is our first time to ho to this place so we just go sightseeing

Ah you just came here?

A few days, last week

I’m not Australian but welcome to Australia then

Today I’m making a video about tattoos and people’s opinion towards tattoos

Do you have tattoos?

No tattoo at all

This is good because I’ve been interviewing people who have a tattoo

And I wanna hear opinions from people who have no tattoo

And also about Vietnamese people’s perspective towards that

So in my country Japan if you have a tattoo

People still look at you kind of like negatively like

It dosen’t like genuine like a honest person

What about in Vietnam? People do have that kind of prejudice towards people who have tattoo?

In Vietnam it really depends

Old people they still have that kind of negative thinking about tattoo

However, some kind of young people

They prefer tattoo to show their kind of personality

Their personal style so

But in Vietnam young people have

Tattoo is okay

Do many people have a tattoo?

Yeah I think a lot of young people have a tattoo

To remind them about something they have in their life

You don’t have a tattoo, you don’t have a tattoo

If you see people in Vietnam who has a tattoo

You don’t judge people?

We don’t judge people with a tattoo

So you don’t think that this person is not genuine or not honest or something like that?

Yeah no

I wanted to hear this because we are from Asian countries right

What about job hunting and stuff though?

If you have a tattoo is it gonna be tricky to get a job? Or it dosen’t really matter?

In some kinds of profession if you have a tattoo you cannot get the job that is a policy

Some companies have the policy

It depends but bot natinal wide

Have you ever thought that you wanna get a tattoo?

Never because I am a teacher

So I have to set a good example for students

Have you ever thought that you wanna get a tattoo?

Not really but when I was young I used to have a thinking of that I will have a tattoo

But my mum she dosen’t like that so

I want to follow what she wants to make her happy because

I don’t want tattoo to will become a kind of thing that…

Destroy the relationship between you ad your family?

Coz it should be something positive right? If you wanna get one

I’m very happy that I asked you guys like

Because like I said in Asia I thought

Vietnam can be a very conservative country so like

No tattoo or something like that but actually

We are modern now

ベトナムは現代化してるの

We are more open

Thank you very much! Good to know

Cam on

5組目 ネパール出身の男性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

I’m from Nepal but currently I’m in Australia being an international student over here

What do you study?

I just completed bachelor in IT

I just really needed to talk to you

Coz you’ve got heaps of tattoos there

How many tattoos do you have?

Maybe five or six

So mainly here and your neck

Which one is your first tattoo? And why did you get the tattoo?

The one on this side is my first tattoo

This one

Why did you get that one?

It’s a phoenix and I just wanted to get like my first tattoo should be something meaningful

And I always wanted to get a tattoo since I was in Nepal

As soon as I got here I got a first chance

So I was like why not?

What got you interested in tattoos?

I don’t know man I just feel like

Tattoo looks really cool on people

It’s just like something different with not all people have

How old were you when you got it?

I was around twenty two

In my country Japan still like having a tattoo is quite a negative thing

I think the majority of people will judge you just because you have tattoos

Also you’ll find it little but difficult to find a job in Japan too

Do you have that kind of stigma to people who have tattoos in Nepal?

In Nepal because even Nepal it’s still like a developing country so

There is still kind of like a stigma like

If you have tattoos on all of your body they are gonna judge you like

He might not be a genuine person or he might be from like a gangsta or like that

You have quite a lof of tattoos on your left arm and

Do you think it’s gonna be a little bit problematic when you go back to Nepal and try to get a job?

I don’t think it should be a problem because

What I believe is as long as you got skills and you know what you are doing with work

It shouldn’t be a problem just to judge you based on your tattoos

So the company will see your value ane they will not gonna judge you because of tattoos

They’ll judge you based on your skills

Whatever I can give to the company or whatever value I add to the company

So yeah I don’t think that should be a problem

My last question is gonna be like this

There are many tattoo removal clinics out there

And that means that many people regret getting tattoos

And also simply they don’t like their tattoos that they have

Do you honestly regret your tattoo?

Not at all man

I believe like whatever tattoos I got it’s like a part of me now

I got the tattoo because at that time I really wanted to get it

And I can’t regret it because that’s a part of my life which I enjoy like

I really wanted to get a tattoo at that time

So I can’t be like “No! I want to change the past”

So what ever it is I should embrace it

A hundred percent agree with you I feel the same coz I

I don’t say I like each of them

But it’s a part of my life

Some of them I got them because I was naughty

Some of them I got them because I have meanings

That’s a part of life so nothing to regret

Thank you veru much
