Thank you very much for your help

Where are you from?

I’m from Sydney Australia

What do you do as a career?

I’m a project coordinator for the city of Sydney

So helping then understand employment numbers and

Seeing changes and help and support business in the area

It’s a government job, init?

It’s a government job, yes

Do you say government job? Is it a right way to say?

Or a public servant

In this video I wanna ask you how you are feeling about your workplace

And also the working culture of Australia

How satisfied are you with your workplace out of ten?

Out of ten is nine or ten

Very happy, I mean

We are really lucky to have a stable

It’s the team I think the team culture and the office environment and

All the initiatives that the workplace culture gives to their employees so yeah

They have nineteen day work structure

Where you work for nineteen days and you get a day free

It’s pretty cool It’s pretty fun

You have a good work environment and also you have a good people around you in your workplace

Good boss and great leadership team and

The team is also very fun

It’s been really goof already because

I don’t think many people can say in Japan that “My workplace is amazing”

“I have a great boss. I have a great team members”

This is great

“How do you improve Japan’s culture in a workplace?”

I don’t know It’s difficult question

Another question is gonna be I used to work in a real estate company in Tokyo

And that was a good company

I was especially happy with the system that they used to cover my rent

So that’s good I could save a bit of money

And I wanna ask you

What do you think is a good thing of working in the workplace you work for?

The ability to be quite flexible

If my daughter is sick or

If I have a medical appointment

For COVID jabs, things like that

We are quote flexible in like that

Is it true that in Australia other than annual leave

You have sick leave

So we have a paid sick leave as a standard

So when you get sick you don’t have to use annual leave instead, you can use sick leave?

Sick leave yeah

But even you say it’s a good place to work

You have something that you think needs to be improved, right?

There’s really not to complain

That’s really good!

Last question is gonna be like this

If you have any unique any Australian working cultures

I think it’s very like mateship very kind of casual

It’s flat leadership structure I would say that I’ve noticed

Even if you have a superior

It feels like they want to

Might be the tall poppy syndrome thing where

In order to be respected as a senior

You have to kind of be in the same level as everybody else

So that’s the feeling I’ve found

That’s really good

You can be who you are

You don’t have to pretend someone else

To talk to your superior or bosses and stuff like that

You can be pretty honest and like swear a lot

Welcome to Australia

Thank you very much for your help

2組目 コロンビア出身の女性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

I’m from Colombia

Did you used to work in Colombia?

Yes

What did you do?

I’m a general practitioner

You are a doctor

A very smart person

So did you work for a hospital or you had your own clinic?

No, I used to work for a consultation

Like GP here

It’s not a company but it’s a company

So in this video I wanna ask you how you were feeling about your workplace in Colombia

First of all, how happy and how satisfied were you with your workplace out of ten?

Five six yeah

Not much?

What was a good think of working in the company you worked for?

It’s a stable work

And I don’t need to find for another work

So the money that I used to earn was good

This is a random question but

You have a tattoo right?

I don’t think there’s many

Doctors with a whole arm tattoo in Japan but

Was it completely okay in your country?

No, maybe

For young people like me, yes but

Older people see me like…

And in my job I used to wear a white coat

And I cover my arm but

When I finish my work

When I take it off

Some people who stay there older people see me like..

“What is this young lady?”

It’s like a taboo

People think that doctors have to be

Proper

Have to look like

A serious person?

It’s the same with these

You had that when you …?

Yes

But now with COVID we use a mask on our face so

Don’t have to worry too much yeah?

Before that I used to use this and the same

So you said your satisfaction level is five

What do you think needed to be improved or changed in your workplace?

Or like working culture in Colombia?

The condition of work because

It’s like so stressful because

Every seventeen minutes I had to see a patient

And I start working at one and

From one to eight

I couldn’t stand up off my chair

I think Australian working culture is pretty easy

They don’t force you to work like a superman

In Japan many companies do

You gotta be a superman

But it sound like in Colombia people have to be like a super hard worker

We have to write super fast and do everything super fast

Because of that I feel ike five

Last question like I said

I think each country has a different working culture

Like I said in Japan annual leave is difficult to use sometimes

We can’t really have a second job

Many companies don’t let you to have a second job

Because they want you to do a hundred percent all the time for one company

This is the Japanese culture but

Do you have any unique Colombian working culture?

Some people have two works but

It’s so difficult because of the time

The same thing happens as Japan

Because the companies want you to work as much as they can

Do many people do overtime?

Yes

Stressful working culture dosen’t exist only in Japan but

In other countries as well

Thank you doctor

3組目 イギリス出身の男性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

I’m from the UK

What have you been doing in Australia?

I’ve come here to travel

So you finished high school and then literally after that you came here?

Yeah

You haven’t worked in the UK yet?

No, not proper job yet

I’m gonna ask you how you feel about job hunting and stuff like that

Obviously, you are gonna go back to the UK one day and

Eventually you go to uni?

Yeah uni

And then you’ll start looking for a job, right?

When we Japanese look for a job

We will see what kind of benefit that company can give you and

Obviously money as well

In the UK what sort of benefits do companies have?

Coz I used to work in a real estate company in Tokyo

And they used to pay for my rent

We don’t really do coz we have like free healthcare and stuff like that so we don’t really have that

You’ve got free healthcare?

So we don’t really need healthcare or anything like that

And I guess it’s just rent you just pay with your salary

I’ve never heard of anyone have the special deal like that where like your rent comes with your job

So what do you care?

Let’s say if you wanna work for a bank but there are many bank right?

What do you care? What do you see?

Of course how close it’s to you and how easy to get there

Of course salary and

I guess it’s just the environment itself

Whether if you just like the place

Coz if you don’t like where you go and it’s gonna be a lot though to get up in the morning

In Japan when I used to look for a job

We think about black companies so

Black company means that

Company dosen’t pay you enough salary or like

You work overtime but they don’t pay you for overtime

You have annual leave technically but they don’t allow you to take annual leave and stuff like that

So we call them black companies

Do you have something like that in the UK? Have you ever heard of it?

Not really

I’ve never heard something like black company in the UK

I think even you have that because British people are very direct

So I think they are gonna just run away if it’s like that

I think if you smell something dodgy they go the other way so

So the last question is gonna be like this

When I used to work in Japan, the company was good

Like I said they paid for my rent and stuff like that

But it’s the Japanese working culture like I said

I had a few weeks of annual leave but

But when you try to take it

“Hey boss, could you give me a few weeks off?” “Or month off? Coz I wanna go to Europe”

And they are gonna look at you like

“You can technically but are you sure?”

“Who’s gonna take care of your position if you take it?”

So that’s unfortunately unique Japanese culture and also

Second job

You finished work at five o’clock but you wanna get paid more

So you get a second job

But many Japanese companies dosen’t let you have a second job

Do you know any like British working cultures?

Well, when it comes to holidays you have to take holiday off like

It’s a government mandate that you have to take I think twenty to twenty five days off a year

If you don’t your company will get fine by the government so

They force you to go on a holiday

Even if you don’t want to

You can get a second job if you want like as long as your company isn’t care about what you That dosen’t impact their company so

They don’t mind if you have a second job on a side as long as you still turn up to work on time all that sort of stuff

That should be like that actually

Thank you very much

I hope you’ll get a good job in the UK

Where are you from?

Sydney

What do you do as a career?

I work as a teacher at a school in Sydney

Is it a government job?

No, it’s a private school

In this video I wanna ask you how you are feeling about your workplace

How satisfied are you with your workplace out of ten?

I’m pretty satisfied

I’d say like nine or ten out of ten

Australian people are really happy about their workplace

People come to Australia then

If someone asks you “What do you think is a good thing of working in your workplace?”

What is your answer gonna be?

I think it’s really supportive culture

It’s a Christian school

I think everyone there is super lovely

And as a Christian it’s really nice to work there

If you can think of anything that needs to be improved at your workplace

Or about Australian working culture

What is your answer gonna be? I know it’s difficult but

That’s a tricky question

I don’t work as a classroom teacher like I support in the classes but

I think like teachers do have a lot of holidays which does help

But obviously like even have a lot of school holidays

They spend a lot of that working but

They have about thirteen weeks a year

Literally this morning I saw a news where

They talk about difficult to work as a teacher

Which is a great job but in Japan

They said about a hundred hours most of the teachers work as overtime

So extra five hours a day almost

That’s like impossible

I don’t know what’s like as a classroom teacher

I think obvisouly those thirteen weeks aren’t just holidays

And they do have to spend a lot of time lesson planning and

Probably after school hours but

I think it would be easier to go on holidays and things like that in compare to other Australian jobs

But I think Australian working culture in general

Seems more ladi-back than what it sounds like in Japan

At least you can say Austarlian culture is not too bad

This is a really great thing already I think

Last question is gonna be like this

Each workplace has their own working culture

And also at the same time each country has their working culture as well

Do you have any like unique Australian working culture? If you know

I think there is a lot of like comradeship

You chat to the people you are working with

And you are in teams and you work together and like things like that

Very friendly you mean?

I felt it I used to work in an Australian company toos o

People come to Australia to work

I think this is a great country to work

Thank you very much
