Thank you very much for your help

Where are you from?

I’m from Central Coast North of Sydney Australia

So you are Australian?

Yes Australian

Would you mind my asking how old you are now?

I am twenty eight years old

It’s my birthday Friday so nearly twenty nine

Happy birthday

In this video I wanna ask you some questions about money today

In Japan it seems like a bit of taboo to talk about money

People kind of dislike a personal who makes a lot of money

Maybe they seems a little bit suspicious

Or maybe simply people are a bit jealous

How about this country in your country?

Do you talk about money to your parents and to your friends?

Is it okay to talk about money?

I think it depends largely on the context of the conversation

Like I talk to my parents about money fairly frequently growing up and still now

Wage is very different from money as well like I find

Socially friends and things like that

Discussing things like investment Investment property, stocks, crypto all that stuff

Very normal and easy to discuss

Wage is much less common

So lately I’ve watched this on many like Japanese YouTube videos and news

That they are saying

We don’t get any education about money

Such as investment in Japanese education

This is very essential I reckon but

No one teaches us

Do you remember if you got this kind of education? Something about money or

Did you have someone who taught you about money when you were a kid?

Not really

In high school there’s like business courses where you can do like

It’s like a pretend share trade competition

Oh really? In high school?

The share market here runs it That’s a promotional every year

And it’s like a fake trading competition you start with fifty grand

And if you make the most money you win two thousand dollars or something like that so

It’s a big competition for high schools

Are you talking about private school or public school?

Public school as well

I think it’s like fairly open

Sometimes in public schools If it’s not a part of the curriculum

The teacher might like recommend it and you can do it independently

You don’t need to be in a school to do it so

That’s really good

So last question is gonna be like this

I personally invest on ETF and cryptocurrencies

And they are completely for a long term

Do you invest? Or

Are you the person who keeps all of your asset in your bank account?

I invest a lot

When did you start?

Twenty three

Did someone recommend you or you just studied and you just started?

I kind of started I started by speaking to my parent’s financial advisor

Who did all their investing

And he was like unless you have fifty grand it’s not really worth it

So I was like well I don’t So I’M gonna start on my own and kind of went from there

Just educated myself and

Do many of your friends invest too?

I don’t think kind of the same extent that I do

Some of them are aware of it And more put little bits in here and there

Whereas I will invest kind of every paycheck so

But you believe it is really important yeah?

Very much so

Thank you very much

Hopefully your asset will go up eventually

Where are you from?

From France

Would you mind my asking how old you are?

I’m thirty

You thirty?

Yes, I am

You look very young

Thank you

I’m thirty one

I though you are like twenty five or something

I wish

In this video I wanna ask you some questions about money

In Japan it seems a bit of taboo to talk about money

It’s like a not good thing to talk about money especially with your friends and with your family

How about this in France?

Is it okay to talk about money?

No, it’s actually taboo as well

People don’t really talk about it

They never say how much they earn

And with any rich people

People get a bit jealous

So it’s not something that people really talk about

So they seem a bit of bad people yeah

They tend to criticize people that are earning big money

I didn’t know that

Because from Japanese perspective European people are more like

Freedom like they care about individual

Not the other people

But actually they get jealous and they are not happy about people making money

I’ve watched this on YouTube videos and on Japanese news

They are saying that we don’t have any education about money in school

Such as like investment We don’t learn

But this is very essential

Do you remember if you had this kind od f education in French education?

No to be honest we didn’t and I wish we had

Because I’ve done a business school

We’d never had any courses like this so

Did you parents teach this kind of thing?

Not even

So you are thirty years old now

And you sound like you know how important the investment and

How important the money treatment is now

Yes

This is gonna be the last question

I personally invest on ETF and cryptocurrencies

This is a long term investment

Do you invest? Or

Are you the person who keeps all of the money in your bank account?

I started to invest two years ago finally

I have a friend who works in finance

He helped me out with understand how it works

So I started to incest in a big funds like safe funds

In Japan still many people think that

Investment is a gamble

Do you think so?

No, I don’t think so

But my parents do think so

Really?

That’s why they never taught me

The same as my parents

In France it’s the same

Interesting

Thank you very much and

Merci beaucoup

3組目 マレーシア出身の男性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

I’m from Malaysia

Would you mind my asking how old you are?

Twenty four this year

In this video I wanna ask you some questions about money

In your country is it okay to talk about money?

Do you talk about money with your friends or parents?

Normally not with friends but like with family

When we have like a big gather together and like Uncle and aunty will ask you like

How you doing right now? Are you working?

How much do you earn? Stuff like those

Do they tell you to save money?

Oh yeah definitely

Do they tell you to invest money?

Sometimes

We don’t have any education about money

Such as like investment in Japanese school

What about this in Malaysia education?

Do you learn how to deal with money?

How to invest money and stuff?

Primary school and high school level That’s really nothing at all like

Even personally I knew nithing much

Until I took like a personal finance course in university

And it was like two years ago and I was like twenty two

So it’s like a bit late

But I definitely reckon like there should at least be like basic educational course in like high school

Not just only investment like How to manage your finances

Tax and stuff like those

You know it’s important right?

So in Japan the atmosphere is like Investment is an important thing

And people start noticing

Is it like this in Malaysia too?

Still like not many people know?

It’s becoming more and more common among younger people

Like cryptocurrencies and stuff?

Stocks and crypto

Crypto not as much but

People my age and people like a few years younger than me would be like

More of them are like getting into like investing in stocks

Really? Nowadays?

So last question is gonna be like this

Do you invest money? Or

Are you the person who saves all the money in one bank account?

Personally like I would have around fifty percent in savings

And maybe like thirty, forty in like ETF, the safest ones

The rest would be just like personal use

How did you learn?

My dad invests in stocks so like

I got it from him but also just reading online

Getting information by yourself

Yeah

That’s good

Thank you very much for your help

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Sydney Australia

But I’ve been living in United States

Coz your English is very American English That’s what I found

That’s true

How long have you lived there?

Ten years

That’s a long time

But you are born and raised in Australia?

That’s correct Yeah I was

People’s English can change a lot yeah?

Uh-huh that’s right

This is interesting

My English has been changed too like

I used to speak very Samurai accent

Thank you very much and all that

Would you mind my asking how old you are?

I’m thirty nine

You look quite young

I’m thirty one

So in this video I want to ask you some questions about money

In Japan it’s a bit of taboo to talk about money

With your friends and parents No one wants to talk about money

How about this in Australia and also in America if you know

Yeah I think in both countries People talk about money

I think in Australia people are a lot more comfortable talking about money

And actually displaying You know the proceeds

Basically people enjoy life in Australia

No one really needs to jealous people Because they love their life

That’s true

And I think people tend to have an appreciation

We are all trying to work really hard here

And get it done so why not enjoy life?

That is true

Lately I’ve watched this on Japanese YouTube videos and news That they are saying

We don’t get any education about money and investment in Japanese school

How about this in Australia? And

If you had education in America

I think in both markets People do talk a lot about financial literacy Like that’s not ..

It’s not so much like a formal subject but

Definitely people in Australia talk a lot about real estate

And usually in investment sense

And in the United States people are often quite aspirational about making a lot of money

And what it takes to get there

I feel like many Australian people invest on houses

Because the house price is going up

This is something very different from Japan coz

I don’t know if it’s wrong I’m sorry but

In Japan not many people want to but a second hand house

But here everyone wants old house

Of course

So in Japan still many people think

Investment is like a gamble

My parents told me

Are you sure? Are you okay?

Are you not gonna lose all your money?

And I say “Calm down mun”

It’s fine

Do you invest? Or

Are you the person who saves all of the money in your bank account?

No, we definitely do invest

We do have an apartment here in Australia which we’ve held on to and

Also we have like basically a manage fund that’s we would call it in Australia

That’s correct

You believe that investment is really important And it’s not a gamble

Yeah oh man you have to

I think at very least you have to think about your future and

Making sure that you have money for the future and

I think people generally in a market like Australia or the United States where

Investments can be stable

It isn’t just the matter of simply putting away money for the future but

Seeing the money growing and work for you

So rather than just putting all your money in a bank account

You put you money in other assets

And you see it’s growing in like Ten years, twenty years, thirty years

That’s how you become rich

Thank you very much

Hey my pleasure Thanks for talking to me

5組目 シドニー出身の男性に聞いてみた!

Where are you from?

Sydney

In this video I’m asking non-Japanese people about money

In Japan it’s a bit of taboo to talk about money

Do you think it’s an okay thing to talk about money in this country?

In some circles yes In some circles no

I work with lots of people that I never met before

We might talk about money straightaway no problem

But then other people are very guarded

Do you remember if you had this kind of education in school?

I did not

Where I’m from in Sydney They talk about social devision

Social division which means?

Two different culture on top of each other

So a lot of my friends went to a different school Private school

And yes they talk about money

They were taught very differently

But in public school, no

We were taught about different things

Do you invest? Or

Are you the person who keeps cash in your bank account?

I am frugal

So I don’t spend on expensive things

I invest my time into my future worth

I would like to have money

I work in tech invention so

I invest my time into the idea

And then in the future you’ll get it back

The money will come back

So that I work on the investment

I believe in you That’s gonna happen

Thank you for your time
